ALBUM OF THE WEEK (a): Little Richard – Here’s Little Richard
The first option for this Module 1’s albums is Little Richard’s Here’s Little Richard (1957). This was Richard’s inaugural full-length album, published by Specialty Records. Specialty Records was based in Los Angeles but focused on talent from New Orleans, Memphis, and Atlanta. The album was recorded over the span of a year between September 1955–October 1956. This was his highest charting album and contains “Tutti Frutti” and “Long Tall Sally,” both of which you heard previously. Please avoid discussion of the aforementioned tunes as you already have heard them.
If you choose to review Here’s Little Richard, please listen to all of the corresponding tracks and submit a 200–300 word opinion. Be sure to include likes/dislikes, genres you hear within the album, lyrical content, instrumentation, musical form, and any other information you feel to be pertinent.
