Prepare: Review Chapters 1 and 2 in the course text and any assigned additional learning material. In addition, please go to page 19 in your course text and review Exercise 4.
Reflect: Reliability and validity are two very important tools used to reduce or eliminate measurement error. If we can ensure that a measurement is consistent and that the properties of the measure do not change between measurements, then we can assume that measure is reliable. If we can ensure that a measurement records what it is intended to measure and nothing else, then that measure is considered valid. A primary goal of all types of scientific research is to eliminate or reduce errors, such as systematic measurement error and random measurement error. Consequently, all professional political science researchers aspire to create research products that are error free, and so should you.
Write: In your initial post of at least 250 words, review Exercise 4 and then complete the following:
Discuss which researcher’s operational measure has high validity and high reliability? Please explain your response.
Discuss which researcher’s operational measure has high validity and low reliability? Please explain your response.
Discuss which researcher’s operational measure has low validity and high reliability? Please explain your response.
Discuss which researcher’s operational measure has low validity and low reliability? Please explain your response.
