There are three main purposes of this assignment:
Evaluate the various “pump-priming” techniques detailed in Chapter 1 of the textbook.
Employ two “pump-priming” techniques.
Produce materials for the narrative essay in Writing Project 1.
This assignment is an opportunity to focus your efforts on the first stage of writing: prewriting. For this assignment, you are to compose and submit the prewriting portion of the narrative essay required for Writing Project 1.
Steps
Pick one of the topic maxims from Writing Project 1 (see below).
A little learning is a dangerous thing
The more things change, the more they stay the same
Don’t judge a book by its cover

Utilize at least two of the “pump-priming” techniques described in Chapter 1 of your textbook. Be sure to demonstrate that you have fully explored the prewriting strategy you choose. For instance:
If you have a conversation about the paper with a friend, describe that conversation in detail
If you choose to cluster, include four or five levels of boxes or cubes
If you freewrite, aim for 200+ words
Submit your prewriting.
Be sure to clearly label your submission, including your last name and the assignment in the title (e.g., “Jones, Narrative Essay Prewriting”)
