The Behavioral Perspective
In order to understand and articulate the assumptions that support the behavioral perspective and its implications for psychology and human being, please read the attached article.
Then watch The Truman Show, paying special attention to and taking notes on any elements of the plot that touch upon one or more of the assumptions from the reading.
For extra credit: Each student will then write a 300-500 word reflection in which you will: 1) define and describe in your own words at least two of the assumptions from the reading that are relevant to the movie, 2) discuss how the assumptions were manifest in the movie and what consequences or implications they had for the characters involved, and finally 3) indicate any counter-assumptions or alternative themes that were implied in the movie that work against the assumption.
