Write an essay that quickly summarizes the subject matter and at least 3 different viewpoints concerning that issue. When you summarize the issue, consider a few important
issues: how long has the debate been going on? Why is there no
consensus? How acrimonious is the debate? How do the major sides
organize themselves? You don’t have to answer each of these questions, one at a time. Be careful not to over-quote. You are summarizing, and paraphrasing, not just
copy/pasting large chunks from the readings into your own essay. If you paraphrase, you still cite your source. This is not an essay where you express your opinion. I shouldn’t know what you think about the subject matter . . . I
should only know that you clearly understand the issue. The essay should have a minimum of 4 sources and be properly cited in MLA format. Your target length should be 4-6 pages long and a Works
